About Ulaanbaatar

Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, is the single hub for trips to any destinations within Mongolia. Ulaanbaatar, where 1 million people out of Mongolia's 2.8 million population.
Ulaanbaatar is located on the bank of the Tuul River and surrounded by four sacred mountains with dense pine forests on the northern slopes and grassy steppes on the south. I show you some famous and my favorite place in Ulaanbaatar. 

Gandan Monastery:v Gandan is the largest and most significant monastery in Mongolia and one of Ulaanbaatar's most interesting sights. Built in the mid 19th century, it is the only monastery where Buddhist services. The Migjid Janraisig Temple is an important part of Gandan Monastery. The temple houses the majestic new gilded statue of Migjid Janraisig that 26 meter high 20 ton statue, decorated with jewels. 

Zaisan Hill: This tall landmark in front of the city offers the best views of Ulaanbaatar and the surrounding nature. The large monuments on the top of the hill were erected for the memory of soldiers died in the World War II. 

Sukhbaatar Square: This is the main square in the heart of Ulaanbaatar. A large statue of Sukhbaatar, the famous patriot characterizes the square, and the square is named after this historic figure. Such important buildings as the Parliament House, Stock Exchange, the Drama Theater and Cultural Palace are located surrounding the square.

I’m one of the 1 million people, I didn’t grow up here but I love my capital of Mongolia. There have many histories in here and many different living in here.

Hairstyles through the decades

            Do you know how people wore their hair 10,20, 30 years ago? Look back at the hairstyles of the last 50 years. There are some styles that come back again and again.

            The 1950s were the beginning of the “rock ‘n’ roll” era. In the early ‘50s, men had short hair, but singer Elvis Presley changed all that when he combed his long hair into a “Pompadour” and “Duck tail”. The ponytail was a popular hairstyle for young women.

            The ‘60s was the decade of the Beatles, who caused a sensation when they grew their hair long –to their ears! In the late ‘60s and the early ‘70s, the “hippie look” was in style. Men and women grew their hair very long, and many men wore beards. And the “Afro” was popular hairstyle for African-Americans and anyone with curly hair or “Perms”.

            Punk rockers shocked everyone with their multicolored, “Spiky” hair in the ‘70s. Then in the late ‘70s and ‘80s, the soap opera stars made “Big hair” popular –women wore their hair very long, curly, and full.

            The “new romance” women of  the ‘80s wore hairstyles from the 19^th century –“Long Curly” hair and “French braids”. For many men, the “Mullet” cut (short on top and long the back) was the hairstyle to have.

            In the ‘90s, dyed hair became stylish. Both men and women started changing the color of their hair or adding highlights. Some men began to bleach their hair blond.

            What will people say about the hairstyle of the early 21^st century? Look around you. Do you see any styles that are really “new”?
